The art of the goldsmith is an ancient and demanding craft that requires skill and precision, but above all—love.
It was with this belief that Gaetano Broggi, the last heir of a family of craftsmen specialized in the gilding and silvering of metals, opened his first shop in Milan in 1818.
In 1866, the company “Gaetano Broggi & Sons” inaugurated a new headquarters in Santa Maria Fulcorina, where metalworking was soon joined by the production of tableware and cutlery. It was here that the silver alloy was created which soon made the Broggi name known around the world—a unique blend of brilliance, exceptional durability, and significantly more affordable cost.
The Broggi company continued to grow until it moved to Piazza San Marco, where—being the first in Italy—Broggi began manufacturing tableware and oval-shaped items.
Soon, the family faced the challenge of large-scale production, starting with the hotel industry.
